Cowabunga 2.0 is very close to being done! All that’s left is tweaking a few things here and there and it’ll be ready to launch. I brought back the original game play that people are requesting and also keeping the current game play mode (which has been improved) as well. You get to choose which one you want to play.
Cows are now animated, there are more moos, more bonus item (in the full version), accelerometer control has been completely rewritten and works great and no more jittery movement!
The best part the new look the ho-down music of course!

Get a cool little game for your iPhone or iPod touch that you and your family will love and I’ll donate a portion to
Ocean Charter School.
Ocean Charter is a public charter in Los Angeles, CA that is open to everyone. It’s a unique school with an amazing faculty and student body. From their site:
Ocean Charter School is a community of families and educators using innovative teaching methods to nurture and educate children in a multi-cultural, urban environment. We are committed to achieving academic excellence through experiential learning, enhancing the growth of curiosity and imagination through the rigorous practice of an arts integrated curriculum.
They, like many schools, have been hit with state budget cuts in California and I’m hoping to help Ocean Charter in my small way. I will be donating up to 25% of the net sales of
Bubble Bee from February 10th through March 11th. The game sells for only $1.99 and can be found on
iTunes or
http://www.tinyurl.com/BubbleBee.
How will this work? Simply get Bubble Bee in the iTunes app store on your computer, iPhone or iPod. Once a day, when Apple posts the sales report, I’ll add up the downloads and post them on this web page http://www.sputnikgames.com/bubbleBee_iphone_game.htm
- 10% for downloads 1 – 114,999
- 15% for downloads 115,000 – 249,999
- 25% for downloads 250,000+
Schools that use art, music and other creative ways to teach our children are rare and amazing. So please tell your friends and have them tell their friends. Know someone at a news organization? Ask them to report about it. Blog about it, twitter and re-tweet, post on facebook and everywhere else.
Here are some direct links to share:

What kind of game does a six year old want to play on the iPhone? I asked that of my daughter a couple of days ago. She went ahead and drew some pictures of what she thought would make a fun game. Will any of these see the light of day? One of them just might.
This one is about bees collecting honey.
This one is basically the same game as Bubble Bee but with fruit!
… of course there is a game with horses. “Don’t hit the black things!”
…and lastly a game with Chowder and Shnitzel!

Thought I’d print out large versions of my apps icons. You know, just because. This is what happens when you put the gloss paper upside down in an Epson. This image is three weeks old and it’s still very wet!

This is pure gold. Do you like Star Wars? I liked Star Wars when I was a kid. Now, not so much. Especially after the last three. Anyway… check this out for a good laugh.

I released Poker Solitaire 1.1.0 to the App Store on Monday and it went live today. That was the quickest turn around from Apple I’ve every had.

It’s been awhile since I posted anything. The holiday season was very busy. Between family and writing new games I was actually just to tired when it came down to writing anything in the blog. So now, with all the chaos of the holidays over with, I’m hoping that I can keep this blog a bit more active.
Ok, so the first thing I have to write about it that tomorrow I’m releasing Poker Solitaire 1.1 to the App Store. This release fixes the lame straight bug which I really thought I fixed but I guess I completely missed. I’ve also added local high score tracking and updated the world high scores to comply with Apple’s design guidelines. On the techie side I have a much improved random number generator, fixed some memory leaks,… blah, that’s boring…. you don’t want to hear about that.

So I got Reese – err I mean, Santa got Reese Avatar – The Last Airbender: The Complete Book 3 Collection
and it’s finally great see Book 3 unfold in order instead of the random showings on Nick. Now I need to get the first two books.
I bought myself Chowder, Vol. 1
which IMO is the best animated series on Cartoon Network. I can’t get enough of this show! If you haven’t seen it and you grew up in the time when The Electric Company and The Banana Splits were THE shows you should check it out. Also, if you’re interested, C H Greenblatt, the creator of Chowder, has a blog here http://nerdarmada.blogspot.com/ with some great content.

Ran into a problem with xCode and version 2.2 of the iPhone SDK. I couldn’t install my new app on the iPod touch. I get error after error every time I tried something new. Seems like something has changed with the code signing. I’ve spent most of the morning trying to create a new project and run it on my iPod touch without luck. Then to my horror the new apps wouldn’t install on my iPhone either! UGH! I just kept getting error after error saying that it wouldn’t run on the devices because the provision profile wasn’t installed or could not be found. Needless to say I had to get this fixed.
Developers on the Apples dev forums have all sorts of different fixes and some scared me too much to even try. After some research I eventually did get it to work and here is what I did.
- I created a new iPhone project
- Logged into the Program portal in Apple’s iPhone dev center
- Created a new appID. In my case my Bundle Identifier was com.sputnikgames.*
- Clicked on Provisioning and created a new Provisioning Profile, used my newly create appID, selected myself in Certificates, and selected all my devices.
- Downloaded the new profile when it was ready
- Quit xCode
- Dragged the downloaded profile onto the xCode icon in the dock
- Opened my project
- Changed the bundle ID in the Info.plist to com.sputnikgames.${PRODUCT_NAME:identifier}
- Open the Organizer
- *Selected my connected device
- *In the left column I opened the “Provisioning Profiles” item to show all the installed profiles.
- *I dragging the newly installed profile from that list to the Provisioning list to the right.
- Select “Edit Project Settings” from the Project menu
- Under “Code Signing Identity” I used my developer profile with the new app name
- Under “Any iPhone OS Device” I selected the same as “Code Signing Identity”
*You have to repeat steps 11-13 for each device.
Yeah, I know, the list seems long and daunting but it just boils down to creating a new profile, installing it and selecting it in the setting dialog. Took me hours to get this figured out and it sure beats uninstalling all old profiles. I hope this helps someone.
